Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!

Term 3 looks like being a busy term of learning and it is great to see all the children back and enthusiastic to get going.

As we explained last term, this term we will be using our ‘mystery bags’ for ‘Show and Tell’. The children will be given a turn every two weeks to bring something to show and talk about. They have been asked to keep the contents secret from everyone else. After they have described the contents of the bag, the other children will have a chance to try and guess what is inside.

We have many things to discuss and learn about this term including the Commonwealth Games later this month. This will tie in with our Integrated Studies topics related to working in teams. We hope the children will enjoy following the athletes achievements at home as well as at school.

Book week will be with us again mid-term and we will be reading and discussing the books that have been short listed for awards. We will also be having a visit from CARP Productions with a performance based on the books. Permission and payment slips will be sent out soon.

Throughout the term we will be preparing and practising for our FEAST performance. We will have more to tell you about this performance as we get closer to the event.

Maths with blocks.

We made pyramids and other buildings from the cuisenaire blocks. We had to use the biggest blocks on the bottom and the smallest on the top. Some people made snakes, steps, pools and a trampolene. We learnt to move the blocks to make the sizes match and we even used them to learn about turn around sums!!

Spring Walk

Last week we went for a walk to look at the changes that are happening outside now that it is Spring. New leaves are growing on the trees. Birds have built nests and baby birds are hatching from their eggs. The plants we planted with Mrs. Stanzus are growing taller and looking healthy. Some flowers are blooming. The garden is looking beautiful!!

Footy Day

On the 21st we all wore our AFL club colours! We went to the hall to march around to our team songs. Everybody clapped and cheered for all the teams. Then we all went with our team to make a coin line. Collngwood got the longest line, Jack, Mathew, Lakynn, Riley, Matilda, Hally-Rose, Fabian and Christian were very proud. Richmond and Saints came equal second. Troy and Riliey were very excited. Now we are looking forward to the special lunch of meat pies and hot dogs that the mums are preparing for us!

FEPS Mini Olympics Closing Ceromony

On Tuesday we had our mini Olympics and  our closing ceremony. The whole school was sorted into countries. There were 12 countries in all. People were carrying flags. Some of the sports we did were, weight lifting, discus, hurdles, volley ball, long jump, horse riding, rope relay, walking, marathon, shot put, sprinting and gymnastics. It was really great fun.

1/2S Winter Walk

Today we went for a walk to see what Winter looked like, sounded like and felt like. We saw dark clouds, white clouds, blue sky, bare trees, not many birds  and a rainbow in the sky. We heard the wind whistling and the rain dripping off the leaves. We felt the wet grass, damp trees, damp sand, icy posts and very COLD air!

We wrote about what we saw, heard and felt and then we have made snowmen, Jack frost creatures, umbrella men and snowflakes. We are going to turn our room into a Winter Cave!

The Yo Yo King

On Friday Mr. Mc Fall came to our class with his very own yoyo. We have been writing instructions for how to use a yoyo. Mr. Mc Fall came to see if he could follow our insrtuctions. Some of the instructions were helpful and some were not! When he finally worked out how to use it following Riley, Matilda, Grace and Bonnie’s instructions he showed us some really cool tricks! He showed us how to walk the dog, go around the world, over the waterfall and rock the cradle. We thought Rock the Cradle was the best!!! thank you Mr. Mc Fall.
